For the fifth time in 13 years, the Yankees and the Dodgers took their rivalry to the World Series Dodgers took their great rivalry to the World Series stage - with the Yankees winning every time. This Series was truly a clash of the Titans, as both teams were at their peak and both lineups were loaded with stars - Snider, Hodges, Reese, Robinson, Campanella, Erskine, and Labine against Mantle, Berra, Martin, Rizzuto, McDougald, Ford, and Raschi. The offense dominated as the two teams hit a then-record 17 homers. Budding superstar Mickey Mantle, in an all-or-nothing Series, hit two dramatic homers, but in Game Three struck out four times in four at bats. Billy Martin set a record with 12 hits, and the Yankees chalked up their fifth straight World Series crown, an all-time record.
