In 1944, in honor of America's war efforts, the St. Louis Cardinals wore the stars and stripes patch on their jersey. The Cardinals won the National League Pennant, meeting the Browns in the Streetcar Series based entirely in Sportsman's Park in St. Louis. Stan Musial helped lead the Cardinals to their second World Series titles on the decade, batting .304 while hitting one of three Cardinal home runs.Jersey Number

This jersey is made of 100% wool flannel and has a wide red braided trim down the shoulders and around sleeves as well as down the button front placket. The front of jersey has an older version the Cardinals logo (two birds on the bat with their tail feathers up and the "C" looped around the bat) in chain-stitched embroidery and the left sleeve features the World War II shield patch. The player's number is sewn onto the back of the jersey. This jersey is part of Mitchell and Ness' Cooperstown Collection.
