He is the originator of the Ropics program, featured in numerous magazines and newspapers nationwide, as well as founder and executive director of Ropics, Inc. His research on aerobic requirements and heart rate responses to various rope jumping techniques was presented at the Pan American Sports Medicine Congress. In addition to his scholarly activities, Dr. Solis set two Guinness world records for rope jumping in 1988 for the most consecutive doubles with a cross and the fastest 10-mile run-skip. Dr. Solis is currently an emergency room physician at Watertown Memorial Hospital in Watertown, WI, and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honors society. He views rope jumping as an effective form of preventive medicine, and his goal is to help develop it as an exercise, sport, and art. Bill Budris is considered a major driving force behind the Jump Rope for Heart program of the American Heart Association (AHA). An elementary school physical education specialist since 1970, Budris is the founder and director of the AHA-sponsored jump rope demonstration team, The Wizards, one of the nation's most respected jump rope teams. His extensive experience in teaching and organizing jump rope teams and classes has placed him in constant demand conducting workshops and in-service presentations for other physical educators. Budris is an elementary physical education instructor for the Milwaukee Public Schools and former president of the Wisconsin Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. He is also the past president of the Milwaukee Teachers' Association. In the companion video, authors Ken Solis and Bill Budris present all the jump rope techniques included in the book, making them easy for you to understand and teach. Plus, important concepts from the book are repeated here, such as preferred floor surfaces and medical concerns.
