Nichols has taught Media Relations in Sport Administration and related journalism courses at Baldwin-Wallace College, John Carroll University, Hiram College, and Notre Dame College Of Ohio, since 1988. As a freelance writer, Nichols has written for The Sporting News, Football Digest, Basketball Digest, Golf World, Street & Smith College Basketball Annual, and Street & Smith Pro Basketball Annual. He has received recognition as The Sportswriter of the Year (Cleveland Press Club, 1981), runner-up author of Sports Story of the Year (Akron Press Club, 1981), Western Tennis Association Writer of the Year (1988), Ohio Track Writer of the Year (1988), Associated Press Award for Excellence (1987), and Lakewood High School Distinguished Alumni Award for Journalism (1991). He was a sportswriter at The Plain Dealer in Cleveland, Ohio, for 30 years, covering professional basketball, college sports, golf, tennis, bowling, and harness racing. Nichols has a BBA from Baldwin-Wallace College and an MA from Kent State University. Since 1996, Nichols has been an official scorer for the Cleveland Indians. A native of Greater Cleveland, Nichols and his wife of 44 years, Jean, have a son and a daughter, Wade and Lee Anne Lynch. Alan W. Hall, Ed.D., is retired from his positions as Director of Sports Communications majors and Assistant Athletic Director at Ashland University. He also served as Athletic Director at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and Athletic Administrator and cross-country coach at The University of Akron. Dr. Hall earned his undergraduate degree at Baldwin-Wallace College and his graduate degrees from The University of Akron. Dr. Hall and his wife, Pam, live in Seville, Ohio, where they are active in the Methodist Church, Dr. Hall being voted Lay Speaker of the Year from the Wooster District. Dr. Janis L. Taylor retired from teaching in 1988 after a 25-year career as a college educator and documentary filmmaker. Her teaching career included full-time appointments at Barat College in Lake Forest, Illinois; Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois; and Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, Kentucky. Throughout her career in academia, Dr. Taylor produced and directed her own independent documentaries. Her two most noted ones are "When Diamonds Were a Girl's Best Friend" (1987), which won first place in the documentary category of the Chicago Access Corporation Video Festival, and "When Dreams Come True" (1989), which received honorable mention at the same Chicago Access competition. Both documentaries are about the All American Girls' Professional Baseball League that existed in the Midwest from 1943-1954. Based on her knowledge of the league, she contributed to Bob Pekurney's script for the CBS series, "A League of Their Own." Since retirement, she has continued to work on independent documentaries with nonprofit organizations.
