1975 Boston Red Sox Home Throwback Jersey From Mitchell and Ness, With #27 On The Jersey (Carlton Fisk)
In 1974, Charles Finley, owner of the Athletics, hired a world class sprinter who he used specifically as a designated runner. In 1975, baseball eliminated the designated runner rule and the Athletics released their sprinter. The Athletics were looking to return to the World Series for the fourth consecutive time, but lost the American League Pennant to the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox took on Sparky Anderson's ÔBig Red Machine' for a chance to win their first World Series title in more than fifty years. The Red Sox battled their way to a seventh and decisive game by winning Game 6 on the heroics of Carlton Fisk. In the bottom of the 12th, Fisk hit a home run off of the left field foul pole, which now bares his name, at Fenway Park. The Red Sox eventually lost the title to the Reds, but Pudge Fisk's will to push that ball fair will forever remain in baseball glory.
The 1975 Series was truly awesome
