Pacific Coast League. Authentic reproduction of the 1937 home jersey. Authentic white with navy pinstripe flannel, navy suncollar, navy block felt applique lettering. Ted Williams' #19 on back. Made in USA. San Diego was a sleepy Navy town of just 200,00 when Bill Lane moved his Hollywood club there in 1936. Ted Williams - the lanky kid who would go on to earn the nickname "The Splendid Splinter" - was signed by the hometown San Diego Padres as a pitcher. The following year, 1937, with Williams leading the way with 23 home runs and 98 RBIs, the Padres won the Governor's Cup. Soon after, Williams' contract was purchased by the Boston Red Sox. He was sent to Minneapolis in 1938 for another year of seasoning before joining the Sox in 1939.
